4.7 The institution publishes the name of its primary accreditor and its address and phone number. (The publication of this information is presented so that it is clear that inquiries to the Commission should relate only to the accreditation status of the institution, and not to general admission information.)

Narrative/Justification for Judgment of Compliance:
Christopher Newport University is in compliance with this federal requirement. The University Handbook and the undergraduate and graduate catalogs report CNU accreditation with the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. This information is also published in Viewbook, the marketing tool used to inform high school students about CNU.

In the Undergraduate Catalog and the Graduate Catalog the information about accreditation is found in the first section, which also includes a CNU history, mission, and organization. The exact wording in all catalog publications, written and electronic, is:

Christopher Newport University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Georgia 30033-4097: telephone number [404] 679-4501) to award degrees at the baccalaureate and master's degree levels.
