4.8 The institution is in compliance with its program responsibilities under Title IV of the 1998 Higher Education Amendments.

Narrative/Justification for Judgment of Compliance:
Christopher Newport University is in compliance with this federal requirement.

Christopher Newport University has received Formal Approval to Participate in Federal Student Financial Aid Programs in March 2001 until December 31, 2006. CNU has the appropriate Eligibility and Certification Approval Reports and Program Participation Agreement.

There has been no adverse communication from the US Department of Education and there are no funds due back to the Department. There have been no complaints filed against CNU with the Department of Education. There is an audit of financial aid programs in progress by the Virginia Auditor of Public Accounts (APA), with no findings identified thus far. CNU's last reported Official Cohort Default Rate from the Department of Education (FY 2003) is 2.1%. There are no known infractions to federal or state regulations at CNU and no issues exist with Title IV programs.
